last glimpse of sunlight

i caught this view on our drive home from boise. if i was more of a steady handed gal, it would've come out more crisp to show the trees, but as is, i love the dark contrast of the horizon against the fading light.

bang bang

we were up in boise this weekend and my MIL {who's an awesome licensed beautician} was fixing up everyone's tresses. i was totally feeling left out. so here's what i got...

i have been wanting blunt bangs for awhile now but i'm not skilled enough to do it myself and my hairdresser natalie is on maternity leave. i love love them, but chris...he's not so sure. he keeps calling me staci bangs.

Bijou Market

it's that time of year again folks. i'm so excited/happy to announce i'm headed to the fall Bijou Market on november 7th. it's going to be at a new location on 9th east in Provo, across the street from the Paul Mitchell school. it was so inspiring for me to be around so many creative and talented humans that i really count myself lucky to be a part of this awesome event. i hope to see you there!
{oh and check out www.jillcanblog.blogspot.com next week for a super sweet giveaway featuring treats from me!}

coveting creativity

i saw this on design*sponge yesterday and i haven't stopped thinking about it. i would really really like to experiment with sunprint fabric. i love the delicate pattern the doilies made on this example. too bad we're embarking on the long gray dark winter. i'll have to hope for an extra sunny day

big gulps huh?

what do you do when your boss puts one of these bad boys on your desk?

you drink it, that's what!!! i got back from lunch today and i found 64 oz of Dr. Pepper goodness waiting at my desk. i'm not a big soda drinker {though chris will try to tell you otherwise} and so 64 oz amounts to what i usually consume in a month or two. it was so heavy and so wide i had to hold it with two hands to take a sip and before i could even get through half of it, the ice had already melted.
would you believe there's people out there who drink one of these {or more!!} a day?!?

i'm feeling guilty i consumed my day's allotment of calories in liquid form, so excuse me while i go hit the gym.

p.s. don't mind that my bed isn't made in the background or that my hair is in dire need of a wash... it's these things that keep me from needing a double gulp in the morning!

alpine loop--can't get enough

you know your med student is in some serious need of a change of scenery when on the eve before an all-day {!!} exam he asks if you'd like to take a drive through the alpine loop to see the leaves. i about jumped out of my skin when chris leaned over to me in sacrament meeting and suggested this. i of course obliged. i later found out, though that we'd be graced with the sweet sound of the pharmaceutical methods for treating Parkinson's, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder on 2x speed the ENTIRE time. my verdict? it was actually quite lovely. the most time i've spent with the husband all week {awake of course} and even though i hadn't the foggiest through most of the lectures, there were some little tidbits that were fairly interesting. chris even laughed out loud when i made comments pertaining to what the professor had said--"you're actually LISTENING to this?!?" the colors were beautiful, though i'm guessing that we definitely caught the tail end as much of the loop was high enough there was snow on the ground. we stopped at the trailhead of stewart falls and took a quick pic reminiscing when 3 years ago chris popped the question there. on our way back through provo canyon and up to salt lake we saw a semi truck that had rolled with a trailer full of sheep. thankfully i didn't take any pictures, but let me just say that the mangled body of the truck wasn't the first thing to clue us in there had been an accident involving sheep!

procrastinating

farmers-market-graphic

so mad at myself that i waited until the end of the season to check out the downtown farmer's market! i loved checking out the interesting and unique {remember it's downtown salt lake} vendors and sampling all the uber fresh produce and food. i snagged up a giant spaghetti squash, baby heirloom tomatoes, big juicy red tomatoes, peaches, fresh honey butter and a french chocolate croissant {for breakfast}. there are two more days--this tuesday evening and next saturday--left in the season. if you haven't been down, it's definitely worth it!

"i have a perfect body....

...cuz my eyelashes catch my sweat." ~regina spektor

i heard those lyrics today at work and i've been thinking about them ever since. honestly who would have thought regina would have such a profound effect on my thoughts! it's such a silly and simple concept, but i really do have a perfect body. it may not look perfect or feel perfect or even work perfect in my eyes, but it was made by someone who is perfect and it will one day become perfect.

fall foliage

something about the changing of seasons is so invigorating. it's like a brand new chance to start fresh...four times a year! fall is my absolute favorite time of year, everything around you is so rich and vibrant. this change of the season has been especially so for me. the summer was particularly rough for us but as i've witnessed a new season bring its changing effects, i have come to realize that it is a perfect opportunity for me to start fresh.

anyway, my good and most adorable friend from byu, katie, had the most amazing idea for us to head up to millcreek canyon to get some exercise and check out the pretty leaves. we had a lovely time. the scenery was beautiful, the weather was fine and we were so deep in conversation we hiked for two and a half hours without even realizing it.
if you haven't yet, hurry up to the nearest canyon and check out the fall colors, they're quickly fading. if you need a hiking buddy give me a holler, i'll gladly go up again.

remembering grandma

a couple weeks ago, my grandma, marie frisbey passed away. chris and i were lucky enough to be able to attend her funeral and spend time remembering her with family.

i'm so grateful for the comforting doctrine our church teaches: that we will be able to see our families again after we leave this earth, that death isn't a forever goodbye, we will be reunited with our families and have the chance to be with them forever.
