bad board game player

being out of school for two weeks definitely has its advantages. i love playing board games like monopoly but i've been quieted in my excitement by my sister danielle. she is pretty much the queen of every single board game {i wrote once about being the queen of catan in settlers}. over the course of the few days we've been here so far, we have played probably half a dozen board games and she has completely dominated at every single one. being the competitive person i am, this has been a hard thing for me to swallow. but i guess i have to remember i can't win at everything.

anti-christmas

last night on a whim, the fam decided to see the movie "the golden compass". my dad has been reading the book to mckenzie and they were both pretty stoked about the movie coming out, despite the author's blatant statements about his goals to preach anti-god ideals to young children. i found it kinda strange that we would see this anti-christian movie on the eve of the most christian holiday in history, but no matter. we went to the movie and chris and i sat through the whole thing completely confused. chris and i had no idea what was going on and because we got to the theater late, we had to sit by ourselves so mckenzie or my dad couldn't even explain what was going on. the acting was bad and the story was so unorganized it was awful. even though we had to pay for the movie and then had to sit through it for two hours, i'm glad it was bad because that means that the sequels will probably not make it and that no more anti-god press will pollute little kid's minds.

temple snow

i think that living in utah has made us snow magnets. about a year ago, chris and i came to albuquerque to get married. we woke up on the morning of our wedding to a blizzard and by the time we came out the snow was not only blowing sideways but there was four inches already on the ground. this year it was our turn to come to albuquerque for christmas and friday afternoon we decided to do a session at the temple with my parents. unfortunately we missed the time for the session and ended up doing sealings instead. by the time we were finished and changed the temple workers were advising us to use caution as we went home because it was a blizzard outside. sure enough, we get outside and the snow is blowing sideways. all the time i tell chris how warm and pleasant it is in new mexico and 75% of the time we've been here it's been a blizzard. i'm starting the think that we're carrying it with us.

Christmas cornrows

So here I go with blog number one. After thanksgiving Staci was sick for like two weeks and then finals were upon us for ever it seemed, so with all that i guess, Staci has been slacking on the blog posts lately and i wanted you all to see my little brothers rockin' new dew. He is so dang cute and with his new hair, he really looks "cool!" When they told me that they were taking him to do it, i thought that there was no way he would sit there and let them do that for so long. But i guess they had him pretty excited about it and he sat there good the entire time. He got a little sceptical when they straightened it all out and it was sticking straight up and said "i don't like this hair, it's scary." Then because it was so long, the little tails of the braids in the back would touch his neck and that drove him crazy, so they cut those off. It didn't last too long though, he was picking at it all the time cause he said it "itched his head all the day." But it was sweet while it lasted!
