nice, france

chris and i in front of a monument

inside the tender boat

the benches in this park were all shaded by huge rose bushes

a view of the ship from land

the fresh flowers were so frangrant and beautiful

chris and the ocean and the picturesque town of nice

peonies, my favorite! these are so expensive in the states but were only 3 euros for a bunch...too bad fresh flowers don't keep!

huge fountain in the middle of town

nice is nice {you say the name of the city like the word niece instead of like nice}. but really it was a beautiful city. for some reason, the ship anchored off shore in the bay and we rode tender boats to land. that was a fun little experience. once we got on land we walked on a path that followed the beach which was absolutely lovely. nice is famous for its flower market and since we were in nice on a sunday it was exceptionally good. we saw all sorts of people selling various goods from paintings to flowers to fruits and candy and spices. it was great. we wanted to go to monaco to see monte carlo, but we were inexperienced and could never find the bus or train station. although we still had a great time.

the europeans and their monuments...just you wait and see

people's windowsills were always overflowing with flowers...it was so beautiful. the colors in this picture don't do the real thing justice though!

I love peonies too - in fact, they just bloomed in our yard and I have been in heaven. Mine are the darker pink. I wanted my wedding boquet to have them, but they weren't in season quite yet.
