sweet shoemaker

i am in love with the design your own shoe section of the Steve Madden website. it allows you to choose from tons of different shoe designs. from there you pick your heel height and choose from dozens of leather and patent leather colors and stitching. i played around for awhile and came up with some pretty cute creations. {unfortunately their website uses flash macromedia for their design site so i couldn't upload any of the shoes i made.} the only bad thing is they cost $99.95 plus shipping and handling. all i have to do, is DREAM.

time flies

yesterday was chris and i's "official" three-month mark. wow. it's gone by so fast. i still wake up every morning and think how crazy it is that i'm married. i love you chris!

i'm a slave 4 u

remember that britney spears song from way back when? "i'm a SLAAAAAVE...for you" yeah well, that is going strong in my head today. this morning at work around 9:30, my boss asked me to go on a bagel run for the girls upstairs...so i did. then around 11:30, one of the sales guys asked me to go pick him up a cheese pizza and when the plant manager overheard that i was going out and asked me to grab him a dr. pepper from the gas station. sure. so i run upstairs to let my boss know where i'm going and she pages preston, the sales guy, and lets him know that i am THEIR slave and that he can't infringe on their territory. wow...way to make a girl feel like she's worth something! thanks gold tip.

red lobster=new pants

on saturday night, chris and i drove up to salt lake to meet his mom, LeeAnn for dinner at red lobster {yum!} we got all snazzed up for dinner and afterward we had tickets to go to the utah jazz basketball game. when the waitress brought our food out and asked me if she could put my plate of food in front of me {that alone is enough for another story}, i obliged and oogled over what i was about to feast on: a small lobster tail, a couple snow crab legs, some fried shrimp and a little bit of shrimp scampi. i got excited and went straight for the crab first. as i was attempting to separate the crap legs from each other my hand slipped, sending the little pot of melted butter spewing all over my lap. it looked as if i had peed grease. "looks like you're gonna have to go buy staci a new pair of pants." his mom was totally serious. i didn't mind, but i thought, hey, mom-in-law is working it to get her daughter-in-law some new clothes, i won't argue. i started milking the situation too. "we have to get to the game, we're gonna be late." heaven forbid we miss the first 5 minutes of the 2 hour game. LeeAnn informed us that there was a nordstrom rack just at the other end of the parking lot. PERFECT. after dinner we sped over there and chris dropped me off at the door. "you have 5 minutes, just get in there and get your pants and come right back out...no time for shopping" ok. i ran inside and as the doors shut behind me, i swear i could hear angels aah-ing. shopper's heaven. i had never experienced a nordstrom rack before, only heard rumors of it's splendor. imagine a giant TJMAXX or ROSS filled to the brim with great designer quality expensive nordstrom overstock stuff. there were like 7 rounders chock full of lucky brand jeans, tru religion, sevens, rock and republic...plus the racks of shoes reached clear to the cieling! with my husbands words rolling around in the back of my head i grabbed a pair of $100 lucky brand jeans and headed for the register. "your total comes to $35 please" WHAT?!?! i'm thinking i'll have to spill on myself a little more often.

cute husband

so this morning i had class and then an appointment across town at a spa in Lindon. at noon chris and i planned to meet one of his friends on campus for lunch. my appointment at the spa ran a little longer than i expected, so i was a little slow getting back to BYU. my cute husband calls me and asks me what i want at our favorite wrap place on campus. i had just about finished my order and was about to tell him the dressing i wanted when the call cut out and was lost. i paniced and tried to call him back. i love the low-fat honey mustard dressing. chris loves ranch. i started walking faster to the cougareat only to find him waiting in hand with our lunch... "did you put ranch on mine?" i already knew the answer...of course he did, why would you get anything else? "yeah, sorry did you want something else?" "no it's fine, thanks." ranch is alright but chris puts an extra scoop of ranch on is wrap so it fully covers every piece of lettuce, fruit, meat in the thing. "two scoops on mine too?" i asked, hoping he would remember my health consciousness..."uh, yeah sorry." i felt bad for even asking so i just told him thanks and that it would still be good. but the truth is ladies and gentlemen ranch just isn't as good, especially when it's practically dripping out of the wrap. after choking down the first half, i handed the rest to chris. i loved it because he was being so thoughtful and he really felt bad that he didn't get me what i wanted. so i thanked him again and again for buying me lunch. he laughes when i thank him for buying me food because now that we're married it's like i'm buying it just as much as he is. {thanks again chris, for buying me food and thinking about me!}

snow

i have decided that i really don't understand the weather. just two days ago it was sunny and 65 degrees outside. this morning i woke up to this:
old man winter has struck again! i hope that this is his last strike cuz i'm pretty sure these blossoms on the tree outside our "front" door can't handle another snow like this one.

weeklong weddings

when i got married i was lucky enough to have two receptions. one in albuquerque, nm where i am from when we got married and another in boise, id where my husband is from a week later. this is my favorite picture from the boise reception. i loved spreading the wedding festivities out over a whole week because it prolonged all the goodness of family, friends and me getting to wear my wedding dress. i think everyone should drag their wedding out over an entire week. it allows both sides of the family to get to know each other a little better and allows for maximum celebration before you get sick of it. i said to chris the other day that i wished we could get married again {to each other of course} so i could wear my dress and do my hair up. he just laughed and rolled his eyes.

yummy granola

my husband teases me for making granola. he may laugh but secretly he admires my domesticity. but here is a recipe/photo of some really great granola i make. i love eating it over raspberry yogurt and a banana. mmm mmm good!

GRANOLA

2.5 cups rolled oats (i used quick cooking but old fashioned would be fine)
0.5 cups pecan pieces
0.5 cups sweetened coconut flakes
0.5 cups dry roasted sunflower seeds
0.5 cups slivered almonds
0.25 cups toasted wheat germ
1 tsp cinnamon
0.25 tsp nutmeg
a couple dashes ground cloves
4 TBS butter
1/3 cups brown sugar
2 TBS creamy peanut butter
1/4 cups honey
1 tsp vanilla

  • preheat oven to 325

  • mix all the dry ingredients {oats, coconut, sunflower seeds, almonds, pecans, wheat germ, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves} in a large bowl

  • melt the remaining ingredients except vanilla in a small saucepan until creamy and smooth {don't let it boil}

  • remove sauce from heat and add vanilla

  • pour sauce over dry ingredients and stir until coated

  • spread evenly onto a cookie sheet

  • bake for 30-50 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes until you reach your desired crunch
